Lunar Lander Game

Abstract – A game, simulating the control of a Lunar Lander, landing upon the surface of the Moon, is required in order to demonstrate some of the functionality of PANGU, a tool which models planetoids and asteroids. A system is designed that makes use of both terrain data and images retrieved from PANGU. The system uses OpenGL to create and display the game environment, using Digital Elevation Models to recreate sections of terrain and texturing the terrain using images from PANGU. After creating hazard maps and potential landing zones, the system then askes the user to control the Lunar Module and attempt to land in multiple randomly selected objectives with finite fuel.
