The Development of a Mobile Phone based Audio Interview Tool

David Mitchell

The purpose of this project was to develop an audio interview tool prototype that can be used on a mobile device such as a phone. The tool was developed using an iterative software development method consisting of several cycles through the software development stages: Requirements, design, implementation, testing and evaluation. The Android programming language, PHP and MySQL were used in the implementation of the prototype. The result is the successful development of a prototype fit for purpose; an app for devices running the Android operating system. This tool allows the user to download an interview from a web server, listen to the questions, record answers via speech, and upload them back to the server. A web application also allows the user to create the interviews to be downloaded.
